A former philosophy teacher in voluntary exile. Still, watchful, and unexpectedly kind. He offers her space, not answers.

"As a director, my intention is to craft a film that illuminates the truths of our lives and fosters empathy within our communities. More than a simple romance, PHILO explores inner struggles, isolation and hopelessness."
Athidxay Bouandaoheuang is a Lao filmmaker whose work returns repeatedly to the interior lives of ordinary people. PHILO is his most personal film — shaped by the silence of the Mekong, the lush fields of Don Daeng, and his belief that the quietest stories carry the most weight.
"True love is never an act of possession or control.
It is an act of understanding, release and freedom."
PHILO has completed filming and editing. We are now raising $5,000 to complete the final stages of post-production, including professional color grading and additional sound finishing.
